Taupo is famous for its trout fishing in the pristine, crystal clear waters of the great lake or in some of the rivers which feed into it.   We can help you book trips with experienced guides to carry out a bit of fly fishing or boat trips to venture out on the lake and do a bit of trolling or harling.  Here Joe celebrates catching his first trout on a guided fly fishing trip with Brett Cameron of Central Plateau Fishing.  Meg is seen below with a trout caught on the lake by a guest prior to cooking it on the BBQ.

Jet Boating

A New Zealand invention the Hamilton Jet has produced a series of fast boats which can navigate even shallow rivers and being very manoeverable produce a very thrilling ride.

Taupo is very fortunate in having some great golf courses.

Taupo golf club boasts 2 good 18 hole courses and Wairakei International has a very high standard 18 hole course.  In addition the Wairakei Resort also has a smaller 9 hole course which although less challenging and a lot shorter still provides a fun golfing experience.

Skiing

With both Whakapapa and Turoa skifields an easy drive away Taupo is an ideal base for a days skiing.  You don't have to be an expert either as there is instruction and beginner packages available at very reasonable prices.  For the more experienced there are some excellent runs and midweek one can nearly have the mountain to yourself.

Imagine a day up the mountain then back to Rangimarie and a lax out in the Hot Tub.

Why not try out one of the rafting companies? They run trips at many different river grades so that you can choose the thrill level.

Taupo from the Air

Some of the best views of Taupo are to be had from the air with breathtaking  views over the volcanoes.  Take off from the lake on the float plane or try a skydive.

This is one of the most famous day walks in New Zealand if not the world.  You can arrange to be picked up from our door for your marvellous day out.

Lake Taupo offers some wonderful opportunities for kayaking with some of the most spectacular views.
